Fain IP Law was formed in 2005, the successor to Mays & Fain, LLP, which in turn was begun in early 2003 by two visionary private practice IP attorneys, Katy C. Fain & Andrea L. Mays.  Katy & Andrea left the world of larger IP firms to focus on what they saw lacking in that world--customer service and a customer-oriented view.  After many years of practice, they agreed that the field would be benefited by a smaller, client-friendly firm.  A firm that would work with a client to determine their needs and goals, and then strive to achieve those goals.  A firm that would be honest with its clients about costs & perceived chances of success with its IP goals.  And, to tell the truth, Andrea & Katy were tired of all the big firm office politics! 

 

Andrea left Mays & Fain, LLP in late 2005 to take an in-house job with Qualcomm, Inc., one of Mays & Fain's biggest clients.  While she is very much missed as a part of the firm, we go on.  The firm was reformed as Fain IP Law, P.C. and continues to serve its clients with the same client-oriented focus. 

 

We handle the full scope of intellectual property matters:  patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, licensing & litigation.  Our attorneys are registered to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office and maintain licenses in New Mexico and Illinois.  If we can't help you, we'll do our best to direct you to someone who can!
